Class, creativity and comfort.

The premium touring coaches from Gössi Carreisen in Switzerland are designed with artful creativity.

The Swiss touring coach company Gössi Carreisen AG really dresses things up for its passengers. For years, the company has been designing the exteriors of its touring coaches with a special artistic touch. High‑quality seating, four‑star seat spacing, parquet flooring and the Top Sky panoramic glass roof are also on board.

Similar but truly unique. They stand out without screaming out. They exude extravagance while maintaining a demure approachability. The touring coaches of Swiss Gössi Carreisen AG (from Horw near Lucerne) are'nt just beautifully designed vehicles. The premium buses are rolling works of art – each a masterpiece in its own right, but together a Gesamtkunstwerk.

“High‑quality equipment, the best travel comfort and individual customer care should be reflected in the attractive design of our coaches.”

Marco Gössi, owner and managing director, Gössi Carreisen

More than 25 years ago, Marco Gössi, who had just moved up to the management level of his parents’ touring coach company, presented his father with the idea of designing the new buses with a different concept. He wanted to avoid repeating the same paintwork, seating and equipment. Instead, each bus should be individually designed and equipped, while still being recognisable as a bus from Gössi. “I grew up in our family business and was able to contribute my ideas very early on,” says Marco Gössi. "We have always attached great importance to high‑quality equipment, the best travel comfort and individual customer care. These characteristics should also be reflected in the attractive, individual design of our touring coaches."

A difficult but not impossible task. With Katja Diemer, who worked in the design team of Daimler Buses Setra for many years and now lives as an independent designer in Neu‑Ulm, Gössi found an artist who not only implemented his ideas, but also perfected them. The name Gössi adorns the flanks of every single bus in huge letters, colourfully integrated into the overall design – a highlight that works along with the defining colour of bordeaux red, which can be found on all Gössi touring coaches. Sometimes ornaments and flowers wind playfully around the name; sometimes dynamic lines swing radiantly brightly across the elaborately designed side walls. Finely crafted down to the last detail, partly as paintwork, partly as foil lettering, the viewer finds new details and finesses with every glance, giving the design its unique character. Gössi has already won the “Most Beautiful Bus in Switzerland” award four times with this extraordinary design.

Gössi Carreisen’s premium aspirations are not only manifested in the individual design, but also in the choice of the vehicles themselves. The company has been loyal to the Setra brand for more than 45 years. Even today, the Gössi fleet of 23 buses consists almost exclusively of Setra touring coaches – TopClass 500 double‑deckers are just as much among them as super‑high‑deckers in the TopClass 500 and high‑deckers in the ComfortClass 500. “All our buses have at least a four‑star seat spacing,” emphasises Marco Gössi. Comfort on board also usually includes luxurious Voyage Supreme seating, ship‑look parquet flooring, on‑board entertainment and on‑board kitchen. In the TopClass HDH and TopClass double‑decker models, passengers also enjoy the view through the Top Sky Panorama glass roof.

Since January 2024, a Setra S 516 HDH has been expanding the offer for travel in the first‑class segment. With only 28 passenger seats in luxurious 3‑passenger seating with 90 centimetres of legroom, parquet floor and Top Sky Panorama glass roof, the passengers enjoy the finest in travel comfort. There is also Wi‑Fi, an iPad at each seat with an individual onboard audio and video programme as well as the daily newspaper as an online edition for each guest. And yet there's more In order to be able to spoil the passengers with breakfast and other delicacies during the trip, Gössi had a large, red bistro kitchen with a high‑end commercial coffee machine, microwave, convection oven and dishwasher, as well as a fridge and freezer installed in the rear of the three‑axle vehicle – he lovingly calls it “Gitchen”.

“The response to our new offering in the first‑class segment is overwhelming.”

“The response to our new offering in the first‑class segment is overwhelming,” says Marco Gössi. “The new S 516 HDH has been in use every day since the start of the travel season and has been extremely well booked.” The successful combination of eye‑catching bus design, high touring coach ride comfort, and customer‑oriented service is well received by the travellers in Central Switzerland – so well that Gössi has already ordered the next two Setras: a double‑decker S 531 DT and another TopClass S 516 HDH. Both buses are to be delivered on time for the company’s 50th anniversary in 2025.
