The next generation of coaches by premium brand Setra is taking shape. A striking external feature is the new series' front end. It conceals a host of fascinating technology. Daimler Buses Head of Design Stefan S. Handt: "Setra ComfortClass and TopClass have been given a much more classy appearance. Setra's premium-class claim is emphasized even more clearly." Prudent and consistent further development has ensured that the new series' front end sets new highlights in terms of appearance and technology to further enhance the profile of this brand so deeply steeped in tradition. Handt gives an example: “The brand's badge is now clearly visible in the front section.” Further technical highlights include: "A new full LED lighting element in the front, fiber optics in the combination of turn indicators, daytime running lights and clearance lamps. Even from a distance, a Setra will now be recognizable as a Setra." This also applies to the side of the coaches featuring a new three-dimensional character element. Extensive further developments are also evident under the appealing body. Among other things, the passenger compartment has been upgraded with new partitions and service sets as well as a new multimedia system.
Face in the crowd: New generation of Setra ComfortClass and TopClass coaches.
Premiere: Active Drive Assist 2 and ABA 5 available in coaches for the first time.
Above all, new assistance systems based on a new electrical/electronic structure are being introduced for the first time in a European coach. They make Setra coaches even safer, more comfortable, more user-friendly and – important in times of high fuel prices – noticeably more economical and environmentally friendly. Two examples: Setra ComfortClass and TopClass are the first coaches in Europe to be equipped with the new Active Drive Assist 2, a combination of several assistance systems that actively assist the driver in keeping their distance and staying in lane, and the emergency braking assistance system Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5) - a system that can also brake in response to moving and stationary pedestrians. ABA 5 and Active Drive Assist 2 are two of the many technical highlights of these new coaches that reduce the strain on the driver and ensure greater safety.
The next generation of Setra coaches will celebrate their press world premiere during the “IAA Transportation” press days in Hanover (September 18–20, 2022). For customers, ComfortClass and TopClass will be showcased in Neu-Ulm from autumn, followed by numerous European trade fairs in Spain, Italy, Sweden, the Czech Republic and France, as well as at other roadshows.
