It couldn't be more convenient: simply press the P button or pull the ergonomically shaped lever, and the electronic parking brake is engaged. It is just as easy to disengage. The electronic parking brake in Setra touring coaches and intercity buses offers perfect protection against unintentional rolling away and supports the driver when doing hill starts.
A tight grip on safety.
The electronic parking brake brings together simple operation and additional safety.
Drive off more safely when the road gets steep.
The electronic parking brake makes hill starts easier and safer. The ergonomically shaped operating lever sits perfectly in your hand and can thus be operated very precisely. Pull the lever upwards beyond the pressure point, apply torque to the wheels with the accelerator pedal and let the operating lever slide back towards the starting position in a controlled manner – and so, hill starts become a doddle!
Convenient hold function.
The hold function makes this even more convenient. With this hill holder, a firm press on the brake pedal when stationary activates the service brake, which then remains engaged until a step on the accelerator pedal gives the system the command to start off. This prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards and makes hill starts much easier.
Another useful function is the automatic release of the parking brake. There's no need for the driver to manually operate the P button. Here's how it works: with the parking brake engaged, engage a gear and press the accelerator pedal. The system detects the start-off request and releases the parking brake automatically as soon as sufficient torque is applied to the wheels.
The electronic parking brake is standard equipment in all Setra MultiClass 500, ComfortClass 500 and TopClass 500 vehicles. The Hold function has also been integrated as standard in the Setra TopClass 500. The starting-off aid with automatic release is only optionally available for the MultiClass 500 and ComfortClass 500.
